Discover Seoul Pass: Is This Thing Actually Worth It?

Hi, Welcome to Living and Working in Korea. I'm Ryan, M, Korean CPA.

Okay, real talk. When I first heard about the Discover Seoul Pass, I was like,

Please find Seoul Pass price, Seoul Pass app, Seoul Pass attractions here.

"Great, another tourist trap card that sounds good but saves you like $5."

But then I actually used it during my last Seoul trip, and holy crap, it’s either the best travel hack ever or a total waste—depending entirely on how you use it.

I’m breaking down exactly what I learned (including the mistakes I made) so you don’t blow your money.

What Is This Pass, Actually?

It’s basically an all-access digital card only for foreigners that gets you into 70+ major Seoul attractions for free. Think of it like a festival wristband, but for palaces and theme parks.

What you actually get:

  • Free entry to 70+ spots (Lotte World, N Tower, COEX Aquarium, etc.)

  • Discounts at 110+ places (shopping, shows, food)

  • Free AREX airport train ride

  • Free 5-day eSIM (but only with the mobile version)

  • NO T-Money transit on mobile pass (this screwed me over, more on that later)

The Real Price (Don’t Pay Full Price)

I bought mine through Klook for way cheaper than the official price. Here’s the actual cost as of January 2026:

You can find all the type price, here.

Pro tip: The clock starts when you first use it, not when you buy it. So you can buy it now and activate it months later (valid for 5 years).

Mobile vs. Physical Card: The Mistake I Made

I got the mobile pass because I’m a digital nomad and hate carrying cards. Big mistake for transit.

Mobile Pass:

  • ✅ Free eSIM (lifesaver for data)

  • ✅ Instant download

  • ❌ NO T-Money function—you can’t tap subway gates

  • ❌ Had to buy a separate T-Money card at the airport

Physical Card:

  • ✅ Built-in T-Money chip (tap and go on subways/buses)

  • ✅ Can keep as a souvenir

  • ❌ No eSIM

  • ❌ Have to pick it up at Incheon Airport or Myeongdong

My advice: If you’re staying near the Han River and won’t use subway much, get mobile. If you’ll be on public transit constantly, get the physical card.

What’s Actually Worth It (2026 Update)

The Heavy Hitters:

  • Lotte World Adventure: ₩64,000 value

  • Seoul Land: ₩52,000 value

  • N Seoul Tower Observatory: ₩21,000

  • COEX Aquarium: ₩32,000

What Got Cut in 2025:

  • ❌ 63 Building Observatory (removed)

  • ❌ Aqua Planet 63 (removed)

New Additions:

  • ✅ Seoul Battleship Museum (random but cool)

  • ✅ Daehan Hanbok (free rental with pass)

My Personal Math: Did I Save Money?

My 48-hour itinerary:

  • Day 1: Lotte World (₩64,000) + N Tower (₩21,000) = ₩85,000

  • Day 2: Gyeongbokgung (₩3,000) + COEX Aquarium (₩32,000) = ₩35,000

  • Total value: ₩120,000

  • What I paid: ₩49,500

  • Savings: ₩70,500 (59% off)

Verdict: Absolutely worth it IF you’re a go-getter who actually visits attractions. If you’re more of a “wander and eat” traveler, skip it.

Who Should NOT Buy This

  • ❌ Cafe hoppers: You won’t use the free entries

  • ❌ Long-term residents: It’s tourist-only

  • ❌ Busan/Jeju travelers: Seoul-only

  • ❌ Slow travelers: The time pressure will stress you out

My Honest Recommendation

Buy it if:

  • You’re in Seoul for 2–4 days

  • You want to see 3+ attractions per day

  • You like having a plan and saving cash

Skip it if:

  • You’d rather stroll neighborhoods than rush through palaces

  • You’re staying more than a week (just get T-Money)

  • You’re only here for K-pop concerts and food

DON't miss the seoul city hall ice skating rink

Bottom line: If you’d spend more than ₩34,000 on entrance fees anyway, this is free money. If not, it’s an expensive piece of digital plastic.

Where I bought mine: Klook (instant download + eSIM). Started my Seoul marathon at 9 AM sharp and never looked back.
